    Sweet moment.

    Waking City.

    Food adventure.

Happy Birthday to you, and you, and especially you SKW.
When you have a break, take it & enjoy it. Why only go back half-fulfilled and end up with more distractions? Its necessary to recharge and go back to reality fresh and on the ball, ready to tackle the dragging long days of boringness.

Just when you feel that life is moving a long a straight-line, being unproductive, unsatisfied, unhappy… you need to find what you’re passionate about again and feel that sense of excitement with something to look forward to.
New people comes new inspiration. More energy comes more motivation.
Goodbye September. See you next year.

    Calm Water.

It’s all been quiet lately, as you can tell by the huge gap since my last post. I haven’t had much time to chill with my pal, the internet, so I haven’t had much to hype about. Sadface. I seem to always have a hundred things to do or think about. But, now everything seems to be falling into place quite nicely – at least for now anyway.

A HUGE CONGRATS TO BEE for landing a job as an intern psychologist!!!!!! For those who aren’t aware, it is ridiculously difficult to find positions in psychology when you’re a fresh graduate. Surprisingly, many universities do not equip you with the necessary practical experience for you to become a registered practitioner. So proud of you!! Although its a few hours drive away, I suppose its better than being interstate.

Chilling with L at Tea Centre – great alternative to Starbucks!

Happy birthday to Eunice!! What a nice dinner and lovely to catch up with some familiar faces.
Seeing a few people in suits was something different – makes me want to hurry up finish my degree and graduate! Two years to go for me… its seems like so far away still. Then again, the thought of the whole recruitment process and working full-time straightaway gives me goosebumps. But its great to have all my law girls & boys there alongside me for motivation. We will all make it to the end!

    Oops, I bought another 2 cameras…
A friend recently asked me, ‘how would you feel if you don’t have or didn’t bring any camera with you?’ My answer is I would feel completely naked and anxious that I might miss out on a “moment” or some opportunity for a great shot. (Oh yes, a huge photography bug bit me. HARD.) I am currently working on covering a wall in my room with photographs from film and about 1/4 of my wall is covered. Hope I can get a scanner soon so I can upload them on here too.

The thing I hate about our digital era is:
    1) it fails when there are no batteries; or
    2) most things die after 2 years, or conveniently the day AFTER the warranty expires.
Well I suppose, if everything lasted for a lifetime then businesses will go bust. For those who want to get serious about photography, I highly recommend getting a manual film SLR camera. I have here Nikon FM2n (black, left) and a Nikon FE2 (chrome, right). My other inexpensive choices would be Canon AE1 or Olympus OM-1 or OM-2. They are made to be so solid and provided you don’t drop it or run over it, it will last a lifetime. Although film can be quite expensive these days, say about $7 for a roll with 36exp, it actually forces you to really think about what you’re shooting and be more careful or precise with your composition. No ‘delete’ button or reviewing the photo immediately after. Exciting isn’t it!?

Anyone shooting film still these days? Love to hear from you!

cant wait to see your pics!!!!!!!!! ive a few film cameras but i hardly use them, always feel like developing film can get so expensive and that type of money just builds up!

      • Joey 1:37 AM on July 17, 2010 Permalink | Reply

If its just the standard 35mm which you can develop at local discount stores, it works out to be about the same as printing digital photos. What is REALLY exxy is 120 medium format and true black and white 35mm film. OMG… paid $30AUD for ONE ROLL and only 5 of them turned out decent enough for my wall. I can nearly buy an elcheapo lomo camera!

looking pretty in your pics joey!! oh and love your glasses too! hehehe.

i don’t have a film slr camera (only a toy lomo) but you can buy pretty cheap film in sydney…in those dodgy asian stores lols.

Thx Mo! I love lomo!! I know the prices are hugely inflated for just a toy plastic camera… but I STILL WANT ONE!! LOL. Looking to get a Diana F+ with instant back >.< I don't think I can ever stop buying things =.=

    Happy Birthday to LY!
Just had a huge huge weekend so I’m still catching up on sleep. Three nights straight drinking is just ridiculous for me – ridiculously tired, ridiculously fun. It really makes a difference to someone when they know you have put effort into making their day special. Hope you had a memorable day LOLO!

    LY Birthday

I used to really look forward to my birthday. PRESENTS!! But now, I realise I don’t really want to celebrate being OLDER and having more responsibilities that come with age. Though, the thing I look forward to the most is spending the time with friends because its the one time that you can get everyone altogether at the same time. People are just so busy these days. Oh and I’m really big on skin care right now because it will all go down hill in a few years!!!

Why is my post titled ‘upgrade’? I guess life is full of upgrades – beauty, status, money, materialistic things, car… Seems to be all these external things that people strive to achieve in life. But the most durable upgrade you can give yourself is what’s on the inside – knowledge, skills, relationships & friendships, confidence, willpower, motivation and happiness. Food for thought.

totally agree with not wanting to celebrate being older (: I’ve secretly decided there would be no big celebration after 21 lol

    Buffet Culture.

Life is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet right now! The typical day is: sleep til 10 or 11am; ready made yummy lunch by maid (she’s so lovely and professional); head out to Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui for walk around and shop; dinner out; home at midnight. Going to do more site-seeing around the place… sounds funny to go site-seeing even though I’m from here but just love the culture and streets of Hong Kong.

One thing I noticed is the amount of buffet places there are. Is it that “all you can eat” gimmick that lures people in (esp asians cos they think they’re getting an awesome deal with unlimited amount of food)… I’ve had buffet dinners 4-5 times in this whole trip. The mentality is to eat more than the value you are paying. But at the end of your meal, I do tend to feel overloaded and so unhealthy =,= I think I’ll be living on salad and oatmeal when I go back home in Bris.

It was Maggie’s 21st party few nights ago (buffet hotpot). Happy Birthday Maggieeee!! I got to try on my new colour contacts. Actually, its my first time wearing colour cons!! Gosh I looked so different!!! I took one with the flash on and I looked like I’m from a horror movie. Freaky.

I rarely post my outfit pics. Here’s an attempt:

Long 3/4 sleeve blazer, trilby, Witchery striped shirt dress, wetlook tights, bbag & Puzzle Pom Pom flats.

IFC Mall – these things are cute!

Just got home from dinner at Japanese Buffet…so full and sleepy right now. Pics from din din:

ughhhh feel sick 😦 Remember buffets are a sunk costs! XD

Eating in HK was the most fulfilling and fattening experience ever, LOL. The good thing about being in HK is that there’s a lot of manual transportation (a.k.a walking) which helps keep things intact. When I went to HK last year, all we did was pretty much EAT… anytime, anywhere, LOL.

I think globally, we all want to “eat more than what we pay for” because we feel like we’re getting ripped off if we don’t, lol. It is a pretty unhealthy culture in the sense that you’re stuffing yourself to make yourself feel sick and paying to feel sick 😛 I didn’t return to a “healthy eating habit” until I returned to Canada a month after. Luckily, even with eating 6-7 meals a day, I didn’t gain any weight due to the heat and constant walking.

TST is amazing because you can never get bored of it, lol. I live in TST and even going to the same malls/shops everyday doesn’t bore me because there’s always something new and to be honest… I can’t ever recall 100% visiting any store, usually I “quickly peruse” their sales, haha.

I hope you get your money’s worth out of the buffet… although try not to throw up afterward 😉

I don’t think I could get sick of Hong Kong – there’s always something different, always something new and exciting!

Everytime I come back for a few weeks, it seems like I still have something else I wanna do.

The fun never ends in the city of Hong Kong. Love it.

Enjoy the rest of your stay in HK and make the most of it okay? Make sure you go to Tai O, Lamma, Lantau Is. and all the places that we had planned to go – take lots of photos too!
Can’t wait to plan our next trip back! Another one next year, maybe? 😉 hehe

      Missing you heaps!

    forever young!

This past week has been extremely eventful with emotions going on extreme highs and lows…
I’ll get the lows out of the way first – long story short, I quit my work! I had been saying it for awhile, but this really tipped me over the edge. Basically, I don’t believe in working for a company who doesn’t adequately support their employees and points fingers when they don’t have their way. I’m currently undecided as to what I want to do: jump to another job? Or have a bit of a break since finals are coming up very soon…

On the up side, Bee & I had a post-birthday celebrations over two days. Whoa! I’m so tired from it but it was so much fun!! I’m never drinking the night before I have uni, because I slept in and missed my lecture!! =.=
    Some pics from the night~

Everyday has been a big rush to meet deadlines and I’m getting so tired of it all. I finally have a bit of chill time now to post this. So here goes…

I had my birthday last week and although it was just a few quiet night outs, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. My birthday seems to fall on the time where everyone is busy with uni and exams so I usually post-pone celebrations until the break. I received a lot of well wishes from a lot of people – thanks heaps cos it really made my day. I even got a card from the local councilor with this quote which is really thoughtful.
“In the end its not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.” ~Abraham Lincoln

    costa rican tarrazu

Weeeoooo!! Finally get to take a breather but only for a little while. Finals timetable is posted, so countdown begins now =[ Gotta talk back to the 5 May.. cos it was my sister’s birthday! She just had a quiet one cos she couldn’t get anything organised since starting full-time. Took Mama to try something new and not asian, so went to Ah Mets Turkish Cuisine. Love that place for the comfy seats, atmosphere and food of course.

Something with my lovely mother is, she can never keep her eyes open in photos.

Totally love Lie to Me right now. “He’s scary good.” LOVE CAL LIGHTMAN
Gives me something to look forward to every week. Hmm, say… I gotta catch up on some Gossip Girl too.
    lie to me

Normally I’m not into K-POP, but bumped into Super Junior’s song Sorry Sorry.. super catchy and kinda raised an eyebrow when I saw there are 13 members of this boyband. Did they not have resources to make 2 separate ones? Hmm. Anyways, enjoy.

I thought I might take my coffee interest a little further, and picked a different coffee bean while at Merlos. Coffee of the month was Costa Rican Tarrazu. I was taking a bit step cos Bee actually pointed out one day that I get a bit crankypants when I go to try a new restaurant or something, then it turns out to be bad >< It smells so good and its more acidic so had a pretty strong taste. Nice.
