A HUGE CONGRATS TO BEE for landing a job as an intern psychologist!!!!!! For those who aren’t aware, it is ridiculously difficult to find positions in psychology when you’re a fresh graduate. Surprisingly, many universities do not equip you with the necessary practical experience for you to become a registered practitioner. So proud of you!! Although its a few hours drive away, I suppose its better than being interstate.

Happy birthday to Eunice!! What a nice dinner and lovely to catch up with some familiar faces.
Seeing a few people in suits was something different – makes me want to hurry up finish my degree and graduate! Two years to go for me… its seems like so far away still. Then again, the thought of the whole recruitment process and working full-time straightaway gives me goosebumps. But its great to have all my law girls & boys there alongside me for motivation. We will all make it to the end!

A friend recently asked me, ‘how would you feel if you don’t have or didn’t bring any camera with you?’ My answer is I would feel completely naked and anxious that I might miss out on a “moment” or some opportunity for a great shot. (Oh yes, a huge photography bug bit me. HARD.) I am currently working on covering a wall in my room with photographs from film and about 1/4 of my wall is covered. Hope I can get a scanner soon so I can upload them on here too.

The thing I hate about our digital era is:
1) it fails when there are no batteries; or
2) most things die after 2 years, or conveniently the day AFTER the warranty expires.
Well I suppose, if everything lasted for a lifetime then businesses will go bust. For those who want to get serious about photography, I highly recommend getting a manual film SLR camera. I have here Nikon FM2n (black, left) and a Nikon FE2 (chrome, right). My other inexpensive choices would be Canon AE1 or Olympus OM-1 or OM-2. They are made to be so solid and provided you don’t drop it or run over it, it will last a lifetime. Although film can be quite expensive these days, say about $7 for a roll with 36exp, it actually forces you to really think about what you’re shooting and be more careful or precise with your composition. No ‘delete’ button or reviewing the photo immediately after. Exciting isn’t it!?

I used to really look forward to my birthday. PRESENTS!! But now, I realise I don’t really want to celebrate being OLDER and having more responsibilities that come with age. Though, the thing I look forward to the most is spending the time with friends because its the one time that you can get everyone altogether at the same time. People are just so busy these days. Oh and I’m really big on skin care right now because it will all go down hill in a few years!!!

Why is my post titled ‘upgrade’? I guess life is full of upgrades – beauty, status, money, materialistic things, car… Seems to be all these external things that people strive to achieve in life. But the most durable upgrade you can give yourself is what’s on the inside – knowledge, skills, relationships & friendships, confidence, willpower, motivation and happiness. Food for thought.

One thing I noticed is the amount of buffet places there are. Is it that “all you can eat” gimmick that lures people in (esp asians cos they think they’re getting an awesome deal with unlimited amount of food)… I’ve had buffet dinners 4-5 times in this whole trip. The mentality is to eat more than the value you are paying. But at the end of your meal, I do tend to feel overloaded and so unhealthy =,= I think I’ll be living on salad and oatmeal when I go back home in Bris.

It was Maggie’s 21st party few nights ago (buffet hotpot). Happy Birthday Maggieeee!! I got to try on my new colour contacts. Actually, its my first time wearing colour cons!! Gosh I looked so different!!! I took one with the flash on and I looked like I’m from a horror movie. Freaky.

I had my birthday last week and although it was just a few quiet night outs, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. My birthday seems to fall on the time where everyone is busy with uni and exams so I usually post-pone celebrations until the break. I received a lot of well wishes from a lot of people – thanks heaps cos it really made my day. I even got a card from the local councilor with this quote which is really thoughtful.

Weeeoooo!! Finally get to take a breather but only for a little while. Finals timetable is posted, so countdown begins now =[ Gotta talk back to the 5 May.. cos it was my sister's birthday! She just had a quiet one cos she couldn't get anything organised since starting full-time. Took Mama to try something new and not asian, so went to Ah Mets Turkish Cuisine. Love that place for the comfy seats, atmosphere and food of course.

Normally I'm not into K-POP, but bumped into Super Junior's song Sorry Sorry.. super catchy and kinda raised an eyebrow when I saw there are 13 members of this boyband. Did they not have resources to make 2 separate ones? Hmm. Anyways, enjoy.

I thought I might take my coffee interest a little further, and picked a different coffee bean while at Merlos. Coffee of the month was Costa Rican Tarrazu. I was taking a bit step cos Bee actually pointed out one day that I get a bit crankypants when I go to try a new restaurant or something, then it turns out to be bad >< It smells so good and its more acidic so had a pretty strong taste. Nice.

Noosa RoadTrip – wow wow, didn’t think we could fit in so many things for just 2 days! Great trip, hope we will have the chance to go on another one later!!

Coffee & Chocolate Dessert @ Paddington – When I pick a restaurant, I usually prefer places with a good atmosphere and obviously good food. So, when I saw Coffee & Chocolate, I already said I will definitely recommend friends here (and saying this not just because it is opened by friend’s family!!). Very modern and fresh interiors with nice drinks and desserts, great for chatting and relaxing. Enjoyed very much!!
