economy meltdown.

Its been a few weeks already, and the global economy is still at a meltdown.  So much ‘water’ still being vaporised from the market.   Local businesses are also suffering greatly from this economic downfall.  Working in a shopping centre makes it even more obvious as retail businesses are hit the hardest.  Sales are depreciating when usually at this time of the year, people will be layby-ing goods and stocking up in the preparation for Christmas.   Its unfortunately for the thousands (millions?) of people who have been directly affected.  But those indirectly affected (such as myself) are also at a loss.  I look forward to work (sometimes) because I know that the harder I work, the more I get in return.  Its harder at work when there’s hardly anyone to SELL the products to!!

Day two of my study campaign has concluded. Productivity improving from yesterday. Less facebook, less pointless browsing is the way to go. Yes! Finally back on schedule!

I’m currently in the passenger seat in the car writing this blog. That is one of the many advantages of having the iPhone- making better use of time. Or I might be blogging and other random stuff then asking myself how two hours just passed so quickly.

Unfortunately, productivity means also having to pursue a very unhealthy lifestyle. Coffee, snacking, fast food dinners… Eeek! What’s happened to my healthy diet?! I know I must also attribute some blame to my lovely eating buddies where our goals are to influence each other to eat more. Lol. Hmm say, really looking forward to some foreign cuisines and cooking.

Lots of pieces are being brought back from the 80s and 90s and the blazers are one of my favourites recently.  Whether in skinny jeans, casual or cocktail dresses and even in shorts, a black blazer is a wardrobe essential!  I wish it was still winter, though it has been quite chilly in the passed few days.   I have so much style inspirations lately.  Shopping will be my reward after exams!

innovation.

The mind can be very creative and innovative when it wants to be. A simple idea can be turned into something completely new and fresh.  Lucky for those who have a great capacity to do this can potentially make lots of money for it.    Here’s a few things I stumbled across during my very productive procrastination.

I have fallen for Coldplay all over again. Taking a break from asian pop for the moment until something better comes along. Coldplay, One Republic, Mika, The Veronics, Mariah Carey and Leona Lewis are all on repeat my ipod.

I just youtubed ‘fix you’ and found a video someone made dedicated to The O.C. OH! How I’ve missed that show and missing the charming Seth and Summer!  I’m thinking of starting a proper DVD collection soon.  The whole series of The O.C. will definitely be there.

Everytime I drive along the river, I’m always captivated by the brightly illuminated ferris wheel across the river at South bank.

One time, the lights didn’t seem as bright. I thought that they were already taking it down. I hope its permanent. Finally something that gives Brisbane some personality. If it was temporary, I really hope I can go on it before it comes down. ckw, I hope we don’t miss out, because I don’t remember the last time I was on a ferris wheel- if ever, as I have no recollection of it.

I actually remember going there earlier this year from my Tokyo trip.  Unfortunately, we were so rushed for time that we didn’t get to really stop and admire all the city lights and scenes that it has to offer. Must go next time and take some photos.

debt is painful.

Obviously, spending more or equal to what you earn doesn’t help with saving at all.  An ideal position to be in is if the money you earn from a job is used to make more money – investments, or business.  Unfortunately, in my young and ignorant days, I had somewhat relied on some advice from a 3rd person and acted upon that advice to pursue a little ‘business’.   Lack of planning and no experience whatsoever made my ‘great idea’ (at that time) fail miserably.   That turned out quite grey and now, I’m left with a guilty feeling and a debt which I owe to my dad.  Its like the feeling of having to pay credit card bills at the end of a month because you know a big chunk of your bank balance will be gone… only this feels much worse because I didn’t get anything in return from spending that money.   I will just pretend that I bought a phone and lost it… or misplaced it…

name game.

When creating this blog, I thought so hard about what I should name the page. Part of the reason I left xanga was the very old name: “aya magic”.  What was I thinking at the time?  I’m not quite sure.  Probably because my chinese name has the word which sounds like ‘ya’.. and magic… well I was younger ok.   I often get the same problem when choosing a new email.  Having my preferred ID being taken doesn’t help with the choice either.  I usually click on the “check availability” button so many times that it asks me to ‘repeat the letters in the image’ cos it thinks I’m a spammer.   

I won’t go into the story about the origin of my name.  I might leave that for another time cos I know some may laugh out loud (such as Lolo*).  

So, what was interesting I thought was choosing names for your future kids. I mean, it takes me that long to come up with a new blog ID or email… how would one actually go about making a name up for your child or pet?  The name stays with you forever so you want the perfect name.  It may even affect the way your child turns out.  I mean, if you give it some dodge name, will this affect their confidence?  Ahh, its probably not that serious.  Some people like to name their child after some significant person in their familial line. Very meaningful.. but I find celebrity babies have the most interesting names.  

Example 1:   SURI Cruise – Recent snap of her shopping spree at HERMES`… yes…she’s what, 3?  Wow.. my idol XD  Hmm interestingly, my lecturer is called Suri – a funny man from Sri Lanka
