Buffet Culture.

Life is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet right now! The typical day is: sleep til 10 or 11am; ready made yummy lunch by maid (she’s so lovely and professional); head out to Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui for walk around and shop; dinner out; home at midnight. Going to do more site-seeing around the place… sounds funny to go site-seeing even though I’m from here but just love the culture and streets of Hong Kong.

One thing I noticed is the amount of buffet places there are. Is it that “all you can eat” gimmick that lures people in (esp asians cos they think they’re getting an awesome deal with unlimited amount of food)… I’ve had buffet dinners 4-5 times in this whole trip. The mentality is to eat more than the value you are paying. But at the end of your meal, I do tend to feel overloaded and so unhealthy =,= I think I’ll be living on salad and oatmeal when I go back home in Bris.

It was Maggie’s 21st party few nights ago (buffet hotpot). Happy Birthday Maggieeee!! I got to try on my new colour contacts. Actually, its my first time wearing colour cons!! Gosh I looked so different!!! I took one with the flash on and I looked like I’m from a horror movie. Freaky.

I rarely post my outfit pics. Here’s an attempt:

Long 3/4 sleeve blazer, trilby, Witchery striped shirt dress, wetlook tights, bbag & Puzzle Pom Pom flats.

IFC Mall – these things are cute!

Just got home from dinner at Japanese Buffet…so full and sleepy right now. Pics from din din:

ughhhh feel sick :( Remember buffets are a sunk costs! XD

Shop Til You Drop.

I’m feeling rather spoilt. Not to mention my addiction to shopping is getting out of hand. Probably need to start attending shopaholics anonymous….

Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals: Wings!
I can’t think of any other way to express my feelings…I F* LOVE THESE!

Bright Yellow kicks by Puzzle
These remind me of the leather converse hi-tops I saw awhile back. So comfy and affordable.

Handmade Swarovski Crystal iPhone 3GS Case by Purpleland
This is the most bling I’ve ever had. Made to order and you can discuss the design you want with artist Maisy. You can pretty much get anything blinged up at Purpleland. Check their other products: http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/purpleland-sampleDefinitely the most expensive iPhone case in my collection, but very worth it cos its one of a kind! Prices vary with different designs and depends on the number of Swarovski crystals.

Lenovo S10-3 Netbook
A 10.1″ is a much better size to take to Uni everyday than the 15″ MBP. It will really encourage me not to multitask…its simply for internet & word processing. But I still prefer Macs!! This one looks sexy nonetheless XD

Here’s a few more pics out of the 1200+ I’ve taken so far.
Went to Kadoorie Farm & Botanical Gardens at Tai Po today. Walked for over an hour to get up the mountain!!! There is a shuttle bus service but apparently it was full… then we saw a half empty bus going up and down WHAT ZEE HELL!? Good exercise s’pose. When we got up there, the scenery was amazing! I prefer shooting portraits and people, but I got to try out Papa Wong’s 300mm prime for shooting flowers. WHOAA! What a difference a $2000 lens makes!

With the girls~

Loving the CNY decorations!

In Thailand with all our food. I miss thai food!!

Should be banned.

Got back from Bangkok yesterday and I’m totally wrecked!! The weather was just like an AU summer, only more sticky and humid. Ewwww. But didn’t mind all the walking to work off all the food I’ve been eating! Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Hai Nan Chicken Rice, Curries, French Degustation, Papaya Salad, Shabushi… whooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Did a whole heap of stuff and didn’t cost too much.. around $2500HKD spending money for 4 days. I took roughly 700-800 shots in Bangkok alone. I’ll probably do a massive photo dump on flickr or some highlights on here later on.

I really should be put on a shopping ban… starting from when I get back to AU. I should really stop myself from trying on all the stuff and have 10 second timeouts to calm myself down. Some of the shopping I’ve done so far. So happy!! More to add :)

After one week of shopping. More to come.

Guilty Pleasures – Day 3 in HK

Dreams come true in Hong Kong.

“Cheung Fun” (Rolled rice noodles) at Sham Shui Po street food stall

Walked to so many shops to find it and was getting frustrated cos it was so hard to find this colour… but ended up getting it from good old trusty Broadway. Here it is, the PANASONIC GF1!

Have you tried a sushi roll that’s 8 inches long?? – I have.
Kam Tin Long Sushi, Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. AMAZING!

Had to blog this even though I’m only going to get 3 or 4 hours sleep – got a flight to catch bright and early! Bangkok here we come!! SAWADEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Unplanned Purchases – Day 2 in HK.

Tip for wanting to stick to your travel budget is: Plan for the items you want to purchase.
However, this is NOT me. There are just way too many things here I wanna buy and the excuses I give to myself are:
- I’ve saved up so hard for this trip.
- I haven’t been back to HK for 2 years and it maybe be another 2 years before I come back.
- AUD to HKD exchange rate is so good right now!
- Got a good deal.
- Can’t buy it in Bris.
I could possibly go on with a few more, but I think I would have already decided to buy it after the second excuse.

I got my eyes set on a Panasonic GF1, so pardon the iPhone pics until I get it. Brought my DSLR, but I just can’t bring it with me when I go shopping – the less things I have in my hand when I shop, the more things I can grab with my free hands.

AND GUESS WHAT I BOUGHT??????

HA! I will be sleeping with a smile on my face tonight.

I Heart Hong Kong! – Day 1

Its already been 2 years since I’ve been back to Hong Kong. I’ve missed it so much! First thing we got once we stepped off the plane was a fresh mango drink from Hui Lau San. Then off to my favourite shopping destination: Causeway Bay! I felt like such a tourist: ooh-ing, ahh-ing and wow-ing and wanting to buy nearly everything I saw. Must……re..sist…… my moolas gotta last me for a month!! Also got a trip to Bangkok coming up in a few days too. More pictures coming!
This is such an awesome start to 2010!!

I was being lazy which was why pics didn’t work. Here they are:

The Best DSLR Handbag.

Over the past year or two, the amount of people using Digital SLR cameras have definitely increased dramatically, especially women using DSLRs. Maybe you want to learn photography, or you find yourself wanting to take photos for your blog and is influenced by fashion bloggers such as The Sartorialist and Fashion Toast. With increasing popularity of DSLR cameras, I’m surprised the accessories haven’t really caught up with the trends. If you walk into a camera shop you’re most definitely going to find backpacks, slings, top loader shoulder bags and suitcases. These are probably more suited to travellers, professionals, the guys or if you don’t mind putting the camera bag inside your handbag. Yes, the point of a bag is to carry and protect you camera, but I don’t think us ladies should sacrifice looking stylish to achieve this! After seeing the thread on Vogue Forums, I was on a quest to find nice looking DSLR handbags or alternatives to take your best camera on the go with you.

The result? After pages and pages of google searches, I have come to the conclusion that the best and most affordable solution is PADDED CAMERA INSERTS!!! Best thing is that you can use your favourite handbag that’s big enough and put these in to protect your camera while its in your bag.

My favourite DIY:

I haven’t seen many camera shops sell these so have a search on ebay (like this one) or this one from buy.com.

I’ll be in Hong Kong soon so hopefully I can find some decent ones! I’ll be in Hong Kong for a month from 24th Jan, so maybe I can do a CP?? More details later.

Maybe I can get the Alexa Chung Mulberry Bag and put some inserts in there and take my DSLR with me too. MMMMmmmmmmmm HOT!

So I say, the best DSLR handbag is possibly your own!

Clumsy.

Over the past month, I’ve been going to the beach every weekend. Nothing like the splash of ocean water on a hot summer day. I wasn’t so much into the beach being a pretty weak swimmer and afraid to get my skin too tanned. But with Bee’s influence, I’m liking it more and more. We got boogie boards and he got a new skim board to play with. So, yesterday I tried out this new skimboard of his, thinking that its going to be something like a skateboard or ice skating (both of which I had done before when I was little). “Yup. Easy!” or SO I THOUGHT!!

Just when I thought I was getting a little better at it after a few hours of practice, I completely stacked it on the sandbank, and did my knee real good. And it went down kinda like this:

Nothing broken and luckily only my knee. I’ll keep myself from other forms of dangerous activity for now, at least for the next couple of days because its 6 days until I go overseas!!!

Owwwwwwww it still hurts.

I think I will do it again though.
Tee hee..

Staple.

Confession: I am probably one of the very few out there who doesn’t own a leather jacket yet. I think every closet should have at least one decent leather jacket – it is timeless!! This is going to be one of the first things I buy when I go to Hong Kong!

P.S. I’m actually surprised how plain she looks here; kinda not used to it.
